White bread

White bread

One thing I prefer to make at home is bread! Whole sourdough is yummy and I enjoy making it every so often I wanted a white bread I could eat every day!! This recipe is one I love! Hope you all enjoy it too!

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 2/3 cups lukewarm water (divided)
  • 2 1/4 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • I tbsp honey (or sugar)
  • I tsp salt (optional)
  • 1 1/2 tsp butter cubed at room temperature
  • 4 1/2 cups flour (you can use all purpose or mill your own like I do)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp butter melted for brushing on top

Instructions:

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough hook combine yeast, sugar, and half the water. Let sit 5-10 minutes til yeast is foamy!
  • Add remaining water, honey (or sugar), salt, cubed butter, and 4 cups of flour to the bowl. Knead til the dough comes together and is soft but not sticky! Add a few more tbsp of flour if needed. Continue to knead for 6-9 minutes until the dough pulls away and is soft and smooth!
  • Transfer dough to a lightly oiled bowl and make sure it is completely coated. Cover with plastic and let rise in a warm draft free place for 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
  • Lightly flour a surface and turn your dough onto it. Divide into two equal parts. Use your fingers to gently stretch your dough to about an 8×12 rectangle. Use your fingers and poke the dough to release the air. Starting at the small end roll up the doll. Once rolled, pinch the seams to seal the bread and tuck the ends under. Place into an 8×4 loaf pan. Cover and let rise for another 45 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 390 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Bake loaves for 25-30 minutes
  • Once cooked flip onto a cooling rack and invert to top side up. Brush your melted butter along the top of the loaf and sides! Let it cool completely before cutting! Enjoy!
