Dairy Free Mac And Cheese! Regular cheese sauce recipe as well!

Ever since Tommy was a few months old I have had to give up dairy since we think he may have a dairy intolerance! At first it was very hard but the longer I go the easier it gets! The hardest part of giving up dairy besides pizza was giving up my Mac and cheese! Sure they have a ton of options out there but honestly I didn’t like any of them! I found Chao Mac and cheese frozen in entrees and they were tasty but at the price point of $7 a meal it wasn’t financially in the cards! The kids had loved when i had made homemade Mac and cheese for them with milk products so I decided why not try it with dairy free products! Y’all it was such a success and I will probably never go back to regular Mac and cheese!



The photo above is a boxed Mac and cheese the kids like vs my homemade dairy free mac and cheese! I bet you can’t guess which one is mine!? I’ll give you a hint! It has more than one noodle! This product is so yummy that some of the kids prefer it over the boxed kind!

Dairy Free Mac And Cheese

  • 2 cups of dairy free milk ( i use oat milk) (or milk if not DF)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of plant based butter ( i use country crock) (regular butter if not dairy free)
  • One bag of dairy free mozzarella cheese (i use target brand! They are my favorite for shredded cheese with daiya being a close second!) (regular cheddar cheese if not DF! I also add a bit off Mexican bland to spice it up sometimes)
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • One lb of noodles of your choice! (You can do gluten free, whole wheat,whatever you’d like!)


Instructions:

  • First heat up the milk of your choice and butter of your choice. Mix occasionally and make sure all butter is melted! At this point you want to boil and cook your noodles as well!
  • Add pepper and garlic at this point! You can add as much as your heart desires! We love garlic here so I probably put on more than the average person would like!
  • Add your cheese of choice and let it melt. Make sure you are constantly stirring so the cheese doesn’t burn!
  • Once the noodles are cooked through strain them and pour them in your bowl. Add the sauce on top and stir it together! Plate it up and enjoy!
